Player Spotlight: West Hall Junior Ashun Favorite

Ashun Favorite from West Hall won Recruit Georiga’s first ever play of the day yesterday (LINK).

The junior defensive back made a instinctive break on a pass around the 5 yard line for an interception. He then returned the pick all the way to the house for a 95 yard touchdown.

Once the ball was in his hands, Favorite showed off how good his running vision is. He made a series of cuts and elusive maneuvers, concluding with him running down the side line with a caravan of teammates escorting him into the endzone.

We spoke with the savvy West Hall corner about his offseason recruitment.

“I have no offers (and) haven’t heard from any schools and no junior day invites.” Favorite said.

Even though schools have been slow to recruit, Favorite has a handful of summer camps he plans on attending.

“I’m going to Mercer, Samford, Coastal Carolina, Wofford and Elon all for camps.”

The summer camps are very important. The rising senior will be competing against other regional prospects, hoping to  impress the college coaches enough for a scholarship offer.

Understanding your strengths and weaknesses as a player is important. Favorite said that his ability to “play zone coverage” is his strength, while his “open field tackling” is a main concern.

This offseason will prove to be an important one for the rising senior. The upcoming summer camps should prove to be a pivotal point in his recruitment, so stay tuned to Recruit Georgia for the latest on Ashun Favorite’s recruitment.
