Player Spotlight: Mikko Washington JR WR Lowndes

Mikko Washington is a Lowndes HS wide receiver who is set to be a part of the 2018 graduating class. As a junior, Washington was a part of a very successful Lowndes team that went 10-3 this past season with a deep playoff run, where they ultimately loss to Westlake in the state semifinals.

He finished the past year with only four catches on the season for 66 yards, but also played in a backup wideout role behind three D-1 wideouts. Next season, he will be the go-to-guy – as two of the three D-1 caliber recruits will be headed off to college next fall.

Returning with him next season is Lowndes’ new all-time passing leader Michael Barrett, who is sure to garner heavy college interest in the coming months himself. They will look to build a chemistry this offseason similar to what him and senior wide receivers Xavier Jenkins had built.

Another enticing aspect about Washington is his 6’3″ 170-pound frame which allows him go up high after a pass. With more time in the weight room, Washington will only continue to become a more explosive athlete, and is a prospect to watch for at the various upcomingt camps this offseason. He is a solid student athlete at Lowdnes, boasting a 3.3 GPA.
