Player Spotlight: Juvantae Martin Carver WR

Juvantae Martin was a recent Play of the Day winner on our site. The athletic junior receiver caught a tunnel screen over the middle, then got upfield in a hurry, making excellent cuts, while utilizing his blocks effectively for a score.

The rising senior spoke with us about his busy offseason plans.

CRzBqPHXIAAe9Hs“I will be Visiting/Camps and Junior Days at Navy Academy, Liberty University, South Carolina State, Fordham University, and Old Dominion University. (I) also will be at the Nike The Opening Regionals.”

The Carver (Columbus) receiver has a lot of confidence in his hands. He thinks that is what separates him from the competition. “My biggest strength is my ability to catch the ball with my hands away from my body giving the QB a larger window.”

Martin’s catching ability was the first thing that stood out to us on film. The ball sticks to the 2017 receiver’s hands like glue, and he does a great job of protecting it after the catch.

So far, Martin has heard from the following colleges: “Naval Academy, Liberty University, Notre Dame College, South Carolina State University, Old Dominion University, Fordham University, Southern Arkansas University, Shorter University, Kentucky Christian University, and interest letters from other schools.”

The sure-handed receiver models his game after NFL legend Jerry Rice. Like Rice, Martin is not a burner (4.6 40), “what I need to improve on the most is my top end speed.”

If he does improve his speed, he will become a nightmare to defend at the HS level and more FBS schools will certainly be interested.

Martin told us he has big expectations next fall. “My Goal for next season is to be a leader, work hard and give 100% effort to help my Team have the best season and to bring home a state championship.”
