Ahmad Barron out of Tattnall Square is our most recent winner of the Recruit Georgia Play of the Day award. The elusive back took a toss sweep left down the sideline, made a glorious cutback and weaved his way through the heart of the defense for a touchdown. 

We got to talk with Barron about how his spring is going, upcoming season goals and the recruitment process.

“My goal is to lead my team into playoffs, win a region title, and state title!” Barron has private personal goals as well and is ready to outperform last season.

The rising senior said that he is currently working hard on his game. “At my size I really need to get faster and stronger. Flexibility is a big key for me and I really need to get more flexible to improve my game. I can always learn more about the game, so learning from previously successful players is a focus.”

The rising senior was an offensive star last season for Tattnall Square and is currently hearing from a number of schools. “I have been hearing from: Mississippi State, Navy, Army, Wofford, Elon, Southern Miss, Mercer, Samford, Georgetown, Middle Tennessee, East Carolina, Savannah State, Ivy leagues (Columbia, Brown, Harvard, Yale Princeton ,Pennsylvania & Cornell) and more smaller D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO schools.”

Barron believes that his heart, leadership and football IQ is what separates him from the competition. He models his game after Tavon Austin and De’Anthony Thomas. “(They are) small but can play and have heart! Also they can make a guy miss but are not afraid to lower their shoulder.”

Upcoming summer camps should prove to be a pivotal time for Barron, and the likelihood of his first offer seems imminent. “I’m looking forward to visiting more schools and going to compete in camps. I have been invited to a few Junior days and camps!” 

Barron is the consummate competitor and is ready to show college coaches what he is all about. “I can’t wait to compete against the best of the best. I feel like I am one of the best but I am getting over looked I guess, so I am coming for everything that I want!”
