Peachtree Ridge’s Palmer is a Playmaker

Peachtree Ridge’s Braxton Palmer has become a regular in the top 10 plays of the week.

He is a big play waiting to happen, and that acrobatic creativity manifested again in Week 5. Palmer was flanked out to the left with Peachtree Ridge in the red zone. He ran a fade towards the endzone, using his body to create separation from the DB, rising and making a spectacular one-handed catch.

Palmer made the play look textbook, using his off hand to displace the DB so it was virtually impossible to get a hand on the football. The great play is the 2nd time this season Palmer has made the top 10, and the 3rd time going back to his sophomore season.

Peachtree Ridge is undefeated on the year with a 6-0 record. Palmer has grown into his role, becoming a focal point of the offense, where he can create big momentum-swining plays.

“The season has gone great. We have been having consistent practices and have been consistent in all aspects on and off the field. It feels great to be undefeated, but we earned it,” Palmer said.

Big plays have become routine for Palmer, so we asked what goes through his mind before he pulls one off.

“My mindset is that my coaches and teammates trust me to make those plays, and I have put the work in to do it, and I just have to show everyone who is watching that I can do it,” he said.

The 2028 receiver’s speed is a difference-maker, creating seams to accelerate by defenders with good pursuit angles, and from a skill level, he gets better each week. Palmer has refined his route running, improved how he catches the football, showing even more high-level plays like in Week 5’s one-handed TD catch.

Palmer has a handful of FBS offers, with P4 programs like Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Minnesota all submitting early scholarships. And while his recruitment is at the forefront of his mind, the junior receiver wants to achieve success on the field.

“I want to finish the season as region and state champs,” he said.

A state championship. The Peachtree Ridge community continues to say, “Why not us?” They are one of the few remaining undefeated teams in 7A. They beat Berkmar in Week 6 in a 55-0 rout, then have a BYE this week, setting up with a Week 8 matchup against Norcross.

No doubt, the 2028 receiver will be in the thick of the action. We haven’t had a receiver make the top 10 this much since Ladd McConkey, so if Palmer follows that trajectory, you will be watching the Peachtree Ridge receiver on Saturdays and Sundays.
