Parton has Championship in Sight

The regular season is down to the final stretch and Recruit Georgia was able to speak with Shane Parton, senior defensive tackle for #2 ranked Blessed Trinity.

Parton (6’1″ 255) spoke about his thoughts on the season thus far. “This season we’ve done really well, we’ve had a lot of adversity to overcome but we’re still sitting at 7-0.”

CQMCZ9XWEAAEK6BThe undefeated season for the top-ranked Titans has not gone without a speed bump or two – as Parton alluded to. Key injuries from multiple starters were suffered in the first game of the year and put an ominous cloud over the season, but that has not stopped the resilient Titans.

Parton, like his team, has improved throughout the fall. One area the stout defensive lineman has focused on is “(his) first step off the line, and (to) make it more explosive.”

Five teams have offered the pass-rushing defensive tackle so far and three others have shown heavy interest.

“I am mostly hearing from Butler, Furman, and Mercer right now.” Parton continued, “I’m planning to get up to Butler, and then back to both Furman and Mercer again in the next few weeks.”

When watching Parton on film you see a few attributes that standout. He has excellent lateral quickness and he does a terrific job using his hands. The athletic defensive tackle has a quick swim move and does a good job parrying offensive lineman.  He wreaks havoc in the backfield against his Class AAA opponents.

The senior captain has one big final goal for this season.

“I want to make it all the way to the Dome. We almost made it there last year, so making it (this season) would be so much sweeter.”

Parton has 2.9 GPA and scored 1550 on the SAT.
