Marvis Parrish has been the do-it-all athlete at Lowndes for a few seasons. Splitting time at QB, while also lining up at various skill positions and being an impact defensive back, Parrish has been a vital part of the Vikings program.
The explosive senior is a tough runner, and that was no better demonstrated than last Friday against Kell. Taking a direct snap at his own 25-yard line, Parrish split the gap, where several tacklers met him at the 30-yard line, but the senior was determined. More Lowndes teammates arrived and continued to push the pile another 30 yards downfield. Parrish miraculously emerged from the scrum, leaving a pile of humanity in the background before sprinting the final 30 yards for a score.
This touchdown was one of the more improbable plays we have seen since the top 10 started in 2016, and Parrish rightfully earned the top play of the week.
“Senior year has been good so far, don’t know all of the stats yet, but have improved all around since last year,” Parrish said.
Lowndes is currently undefeated on the year, and just outside the 6A rankings, but does make the GHSA Top 25 at #22. Parrish has the program set to a contender, and after region play is over, everyone could be talking about the Vikings going into the 6A playoffs.
Parrish kept his goal for this season to be simply, “to keep on winning.”
On the recruiting front, Parrish has heard from a stream of D1 programs like Western Kentucky, Georgia State, and Navy. He has no visits planned as of now, but that should change soon enough.
The senior is an explosive player whose balance and ability to create explosive plays in the open field are eye-catching. With so much experience at the highest level in Georgia, Parrish seems like a natural D1 football player.
We talked with Lowndes recruiting coordinator and former site contributor, coach Fred about Parrish.
“Explosive kid that doesn’t say much. Just works. Has played QB his sophomore and JR seasons but now being used as a pure athlete. Had 5 carries for 105 yards and 2 TDS. Threw for a 60-yard TD and caught an interception.”
His versatility is showcased in his senior film. Lining up all over the field, you can see Parrish’s ability to avoid tacklers, keep his feet moving through contact, plus some intriguing film at CB. With a background at QB, you can see Parrish make key plays with urgency, like executing a block on a screen pass that leads to a touchdown; the senior understands the game.
“One of the most underrated pure athletes in the state,” coach Fred said.
The early SR film is impressive, and if he continues the excellent production while Lowndes pushes for an extended season, we feel that more D1 programs will jump into the fray, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the senior and athletes across the Peach State.
