Matthew Holt a Big Commit for Reinhardt

Earlier this week, Matthew Holt announced his commitment to Reinhardt. The 6’5″ quarterback from Lakeside is literally a massive commit for the Eagles, and looks the part of a division 1 quarterback, giving the NAIA National Runner-ups a monumental commitment – in our opinion.

Holt showed a lot during his two years as the starting quarterback at Lakeside. The lanky quarterback has the arm strength and decision making to make all kinds of throws from intermediate to deep passes 50 yards down field. He is also a much improved runner, and shows the ability to command a long list of offensive schemes.

The senior mastered the spread under Cam Jones at Lakeside, and should take that quick-decision making experience well into the next level. Expect Holt to have an impact over at Reinhardt, as we think the senior is an FCS caliber quarterback, and with Stetson offering back in December, others believe the same.

Over the last two years, Holt has thrown around 2000 yards, and kept his Lakeside offensive attack competitive against top talent in the state. He was also a quarterback on Cam Newton’s 7v7 team during 2017 offseason. Holt is a major recruiting talent for Reinhardt, and someone we think can have a major impact on the program.

He shows great arm strength and should be able to add weight to his 190-pound frame. By the time Holt is a senior in college, he should weigh well over 220 pounds, and be able to launch the ball +60 yards down field, giving the Eagle’s a dangerous vertical threat at the NAIA level.
