Cleaning up opposing defenses better than your best dental floss, Benjamin Klassen has been on a roll. In his Week 11 win against East Jackson, the senior threw for 400 yards and 7 touchdowns, earning the Player of the Week honors on the website.
The Providence Christian QB has led the team to the first state playoff birth in school history. Klassen has amounted 2222 passing yards at a 68.5% clip with some insane efficiency throwing 27 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.
“Senior year has been great so far. The team has really rallied around this new coaching staff and the staff has really brought out the best qualities of the team and our players. We’re 7-2 heading into Friday, that’s the most wins in school history, and made playoffs for the first time in school history,” the senior said.
These are huge moments for the program. Their region is among the toughest in 2A with most of the teams spending time in our ‘bobble’ for our rankings or outright in the top 10.
On the recruiting front, Klassen has received some college interest.
“I’m getting some looks from the Ivy League type of schools and I have not taken any visits yet this fall,” Klassen said.
With a 3.96 GPA, that is not entirely a surprise to hear some of the top academic schools in the country are showing interest. Either way, it’s hard to ignore the efficiency on top of the general skill he shows on film.
As we noted earlier this week, we like how Klassen makes tough throws while under pressure. That should prove to be beneficial in the playoffs.
We are confident that his recruitment will continue to grab the attention of recruiters around the country, so be sure to check back to @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter to see more about the senior and athletes all around the state.
