Johns is an Emerging North GA Recruit

Southeast Whitfield star defensive end Luke Johns has seen his recruitment begin to blossom this spring with offers from Colorado State and Cornell coming in the last week. The 2018 recruit was a standout last season where his elite speed coming off the edge proved to be too much for opposing linemen.

Back in December, Johns received junior day invites from UGA, Alabama and Auburn, which were his first college contacts. In the last few weeks, a few new schools have entered the mix.

“Colorado State and Cornell started talking to me in the last few weeks and I’m very blessed to received offers from them,” Johns said.

Being a college recruit outside of Atlanta’s metro area can be tough, especially at a school like SE Whitfield, who historically does not send a lot of talent to the next level. So to say the least, Johns was excited to earn his first offer on April 7th.

“The feeling I got was relief when I got my first FBS offer. All the hard work I put in during the season has paid off.”

Johns (6’5″ 225 lbs) is a freak of nature out there on the field and performed well at The Opening in March scoring a 90 on his SPARQ. He has been hand-timed running a 4.49 40 time, while also doing work in the classroom boasting a 3.6 GPA.

Johns plans to visit Middle Tennessee, Navy, Georgia and Colorado State in the next two weeks, so a lot could change in his recruitment during that span. Be sure to checkout @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter to hear more and click HERE to view his recruiting profile.
