Jibunor Becoming a National Recruiting Commodity

Over the last year Richard Jibunor from Athens Christian has gone from a relatively unknown recruit, to one of the most coveted athletes in the state of Georgia. The 6’4″, 220-pound athlete had an electrifying sophomore year, which he followed up with another dominating performance last fall, but his recruitment really seemed to take off during the summer of 2016. He toured multiple college camps, and turned heads every step of the way – most impressively running a sub-4.5 at Auburn’s camp.

Snap-back to a more current time, specifically last weekend, where the Athens Christian star dominated the competition at Nike’s The Opening. He worked as a pass-rusher that day, and got the best of several offensive lineman with double digit FBS offers. His performance was so impressive that he was awarded the Defensive Line MVP at the Camp, which had over 300 participants.

Soon after the camp Jibunor was offered by Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish will have an uphill battle with offers like Alabama, Wake Forest, Auburn, Tennessee, and UNC coming in over the last year. Earlier this week Jibunor told Recruit Georgia about where he plans to visit next.

“I really haven’t fixed any date for visits yet, but I’ll be visiting Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee soon,” the consensus 4 star said.

Most colleges are primarily recruiting him as an OLB, and believe his ability to blitz off the edge as a pass-rusher can be special at the next level. Currently, Jibunor has around 20 offers, and with every college in the country looking for more speed on the defensive side of the ball, we expect his recruitment to continue to go national.
