Heard County Athlete Working Hard This Offseason




 

Class of 17 running back DayVin Troy has been logging long hours during the offseason to improve on his game. The shifty running back has been all over the south competing against top players.

We caught up with the rising senior from Heard County to hear more about his busy offseason.  “I have really enjoyed all the camps I have attended over the past two months. Last week was definitely a busy week for me, 4 camps in 5 days.”

cz8R4kZeWith satellite camps a full go, the young running back has been taking advantage of these new opportunities. Troy spoke about which camp has impacted him the most, “The one camp I truly enjoyed would have to be the Ohio State Satellite Camp at Central Gwinnett.”

Troy is a quick player with really good hands and route running for a running back. He has been hearing from a slew of colleges from all over the country.

“Schools I am hearing the most from in no particular order: Texas State, Lindsey Wilson College, Reinhardt University, Florida A&M University, Rhodes College, Cheney University, Davidson, Berry College, Northern Arizona University.”

Troy was the Class AA 150 lb Power Lifting Champion this year and prides himself on a having a dedicated work ethic. “I continue to keep working hard in the weight room which is the bread and butter of our football program.”

The spring and summer has been a testament to Troy’s work ethic, and the class of 17 running back has been working tirelessly on every facet of his game.

“I have been working hard on improving my top end speed.” Troy continued, “On Monday and Wednesday I attend Clockwork Performance Training Facility better known as ‘The Dungeon’ facilitated by Kane Bradfield. I also travel to Atlanta to work on my running technique with RouteKing Training facilitated by Coach Alexander.”

Troy and some Heard County teammates have joined a travelling 7 v 7 team this offseason looking to build more chemistry. “I also play on YPL Nike Epic7 traveling 7on7 team out of Atlanta along with my high school QB Emory Jones and WR Jaden Moreland. The program is facilitated by Quincy Avery and Robert Harris.”

Since we have made his profile, the Heard County student-athlete has improved his GPA from a 2.5 to a 2.9, but understands he can still do better. “I need to get mentally focused over the offseason, I know that I need to really buckle down in the classroom,” Troy said.

The grind continues with another camp this upcoming weekend for the versatile back. “My next camp will be this weekend. The North Elite Prospect Camp by Tusculum College.”

Troy expects July to be another camp filled month. “I have a really busy two weeks in July where I will hit Shorter University, UAB, Berry College, Jacksonville State, Tennessee, and possibly West Virginia and Marshall prospect camps.”

With this upcoming season being his last, Troy wants to grow more as a leader. “I would like to go into my senior year with my coaches and teammates trusting in me to be that leader/captain on and off the field.”
