First Offer For Thurman Geathers

Rising North Cobb junior Thurman Geathers II received big news this morning when the athletic defensive end received his first collegiate offer from the University of Texas San Antonio.

The young sack-artist announced his commitment on Twitter:

Geathers has been a prospect we have been raving about since early this year, and was recently ranked the #13 weakside defensive end in the country according to 247 Sports. Being recognized on the gridiron is nothing new for Thurman and his family. Six members have now played in the NFL and had successful football careers, so the bar has been set high.

Geathers is looking to carve out his own legacy, and the North Cobb defensive has the tools that major college programs look for. The 6’3″ 230-pound defensive end has long arms which gives him good leverage on the offensive lineman. This coupled with elite quickness, turns Geathers into a terror on the edge.

The young d-lineman’s work ethic this offseason has been non-stop and his weight lifting measurements are rock solid (425 SQ, 355 BP, 275 PC). With two more years to play, the young pass rusher should continue to pack on weight to his frame, and our staff can easily see him playing strongside defensive end at the next level.

UTSA made a good decision in offering Geathers this early in the process. We expect more colleges to jump on board in the coming months, especially Power 5 schools, so stay tuned @RecruitGeorgia to hear the latest on Thurman Geathers and other gridiron stars around the Peach State.
