Elite Linebacker Commits to Auburn

Michael Harris announced earlier today his commitment to Auburn. The state’s #1 inside linebacker chose the Tigers over a litany of top-rated schools including Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama.

Harris’ commitment is a major pickup for Auburn, who now has ten commits in the 2018 recruiting cycle, three of which are from the state of Georgia. In fact, Harris, Quindarious Monday, and Jalil Irvin are all from Atlanta schools and absolutely some of the most talented players at their position in the state of Georgia.

The 2018 star defender was a frequent visitor to Auburn during his recruitment. He was offered on February 15th, right when his recruitment really began to take off. He took a visit over the spring on March 5th for a Junior day, and then made a return visit to Auburn earlier this summer on June 5th.

At these visits he got to see the facilities, and bond with the Auburn coaching staff, which seemed to have an overwhelming impact on his decision. Ohio State made a strong push at the end, and earned a visit right before the dead period last month on June 18th, but it was not enough to sway his decision.

Harris used our recruiting service for over a year, and we saw him make an incredible leap during that span. Last fall, he was named defensive player of the year in his region, and just lived in opposing defense’s backfields. He explodes through the A and B gap like his hair is on fire, and bust through oncoming blockers with the intense ferocity needed to play at the SEC level. His explosive first step is elite and we think the 2018 star will have a successful career at Auburn.

This upcoming season Harris is suiting up for Tucker HS, who is once again vying for the Class 6A state title. Their defense will be one of the best in the state of Georgia and Harris will be smacked-dab in the middle of it making highlight reel plays.
