Heading into this season there was an argument that DJ King was more of a college prospect on the hardwood than the gridiron, but the Sequoyah senior athlete has emerge as a talented two-way star for the Chiefs. King has played well on the offensive side of the football with over 200 all-purpose yards and 4 combined touchdowns. Just last week, he made a play that earned him the #1 spot in the state of Georgia.
His team was in need of some offensive momentum playing against arch-rival Creekview, and King was the player to give his team a much needed lift. Senior quarterback Collier Pecht dropped back and heaved a pass almost 50-yards downfield where King had single coverage in the endzone. His basketball background leaked through as he high-pointed the ball while making a 180 degree adjustment all while the defender tugged and pulled, which garnered a pass interference and subsequently one of the best plays of the 2018 season.
No doubt, it was of King’s best play of his career so far, but overall, the senior has played exceedingly well in the slot back and free safety spots for the Chiefs. The senior feels great about how the season has gone.
“Senior year couldn’t be going any better we have a great team and a great support system,” King said.
His team is currently one of the better teams in 6-A, and a consensus top 10 team in by most polls, so the senior has kept his goals high, while also keeping a personal close, as well.
“Of course that state title is always a goal, but also I would love to pick up a few offers with this being my last year,” he said.
No visits are currently in the books for King right now, but his recruitment should really pick up in the coming months with how well he has played his senior year. He’s a very quick athlete and at 6’1″ and around 180 lbs the senior has an excellent frame to play multiple positions at the next level. He’s a very versatile player who is just scratching the surface of his game, so if you want to recruit DJ King be sure to click HERE to visit his Recruit Georgia profile.
