DeLoach Easy to Coach

Northside-Columbus class of ’23 linebacker Dajwon DeLoach had one of the best seasons of any defender last year in 5A. The All-State honorable mention selection had 115 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 4 forced fumbles on the season in just 9 games. That kind of production has earned him the attention of college programs, so DeLoach brought us up to date with his recruitment.

Who all has offered you?

“App State, Jacksonville State, Georgia State, Army West Point, Liberty, UMass, Fordham, and Elon.”

Where have you visited? Do you have more visits planned soon?

“I have visited App State, Elon University, Georgia State, Jacksonville State.”

“I plan on visiting Troy Saturday and Georgia Southern on the 23rd of this month.”

Goals for spring practice?

“To be a leader for my team and to be more involved with the freshman and all of the young guys so we can get them developed, get them to learn the plays, so we can get them ready to play after all of the upcoming seniors, like myself, graduate. Also, to work hard, so we can make a playoff run this upcoming season!”

Are you camping this summer?

“I’m going to a lot of mega camps this summer as well as the rival camp next month on the 21st.”

When would you like to make a decision?

“I would be dropping my top 5 at the end of next year’s season and signing on the 1st or 2nd national signing day whichever one fits me and my family best.”

The Scoop

The 6’2″ athlete has solid size, but then you consider his 6’7″ wingspan and you realize that DeLoach’s frame suggests a lot of positional versatility at the next level. Line him up in the middle or off to the edge, DeLoach splits the gaps and attacks the offense. We are really impressed with his tackling form and the leg drive as he follows through. The rising senior has an excellent motor and very good acceleration into his top speed which makes him a dangerous player to blitz. It’s hard to argue against his upside on film, and we think DeLoach is a no-brainer when it comes to being an FBS football player. He is certainly a recruit to watch closely over the coming weeks, he could easily double his offer total during the evaluation period.
