Dean Emerging as an Elite Safety

Dutchtown’s finest, Trey Dean, has been blowing up the recruiting scene over the last few weeks. The ball-hawking defensive back’s Twitter page seemingly announces a new scholarship offer each day—Central Florida was the latest today.

UCF is just the beginning, and schools like Penn State, South Carolina, Georgia Southern, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame have all offered during this calendar year. They join a long list of Power 5 programs that have offered over the last year, but most teams will have to catch up to Florida.

The Gators were one of the first schools to offer the elite defensive back. Dean has visited the Gators’ campus multiple times throughout the years, so we expect them to be one of the final schools he decides from.

The Dutchtown junior was a first-team All-State selection by the Recruit Georgia staff. He was a standout in the Rising Senior All-Star Game where the long-bodied safety made a very athletic interception down the sideline. At 6’2″, few athletes have the elite acceleration that Dean possesses from his safety spot, and we anticipate even more schools to offer.
