Burton Making a Comeback

South Gwinnett edge defender Tymere Burton had an impressive sophomore campaign and a lot of hype leading up to his junior year. Unfortunately, he hurt his knee last fall, but is 100% back and ready for spring practice. The 2023 defender gave us a quick update on his recruitment and his plans in the coming months.

Who all has offered you?

“EKU, Morgan Sate and Army.”

Where have you visited? Do you have more visits planned soon?

“I’ve visited Georgia, Tennessee, UCF, Clemson, and Georgia Tech.”

Goals for spring practice?

“My goals for spring is to get better, play with intensity, and make big plays.”

Are you camping this summer?

“Yes, I’ll be camping at Georgia, FSU and Tennessee.”

When would you like to make a decision?

“I’d like to make a decision this summer.”

The Scoop

Burton did not play his junior year, but as a sophomore he was over double digit in sacks at Redan HS. The 2023 OLB is pretty quick getting out his stance and into the backfield. He uses his speed to get around the OL with good consistency and doesn’t have to do much scraping off his blocker. Burton does have solid energy coming off the edge. Burton has put on good weight over the last year and has gone from 190 to 225. He has even improved his GPA up .25 in the last year as well. He’ll be 100% ready for spring ball, so definitely a player to give a look at and see how he has improved, because he was certainly on a lot of team’s radars this time a year ago.
