Bird’s Recruitment Starting to Soar

Veteran’s soon-to-be senior Preston Bird has seen his recruitment take a turn for the better in the month of June. With Samford offering at the start, and Lafayette just a few days back, the 2024 slot receiver is starting to solidify himself as a legit D1 pass-catcher.

“I camped fairly decent in June and I’m thrilled to be receiving some interest from several D1 programs,” Bird said.

On top of the aforementioned offers, Bird has caught the attention of several more programs while on the college camp circuit.

“Lehigh, Dartmouth, Georgia State, Charleston Southern, Mercer, and Toledo all seemed to be interested in me after seeing me perform in person, so hopefully, in the future, I can pick a few more scholarships from any of those schools,” he said

Outside of recruiting, Bird has been enjoying the offseason while also sharpening up his game.

“My offseason has been going good so far; been enjoying my friends and teammates’ company. Been preparing on the field and in the weight room for the fall.”

Pull up Bird’s film, and you’ll be impressed with his quickness and deft ability to make defenders miss in space. Veterans utilize his elusive nature quite frequently, and that has made Bird one of the most productive receivers over the last few seasons in the state.

Going into this season, Bird still thinks he can create bigger plays.

“This upcoming season, I want to improve my game by becoming more explosive after the catch and making big plays out of any situation,” Bird said.

No doubt about it, Bird will continue to get his opportunities this fall. Going up against the toughest region in the state, the 2024 prospect has proven his merit and will do so once again.

We feel like the 2024 prospect is set for his biggest year yet, and in the process, his recruitment will continue to unfold, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter to hear the latest on Bird and players all across the state of Georgia.
