Bennett Bay Headed To Harvard

Bennett Bay, a class of 17 safety prospect from Wheeler HS, announced his commitment to Harvard yesterday. The big-hitting defensive back took to Twitter:

Harvard offered Bay on June 7th and the class of ’17 prospect chose the prominent Ivy League school over offers from 13 other programs, including 5 FBS colleges.

Bay boasts a 4.1 GPA and academics were always a focus during his recruiting process. All three of the service academies and four other Ivy League programs had offered the Cobb County student-athlete, but at the end of the day, the Crimson proved to be the best option.

Watch Bay on film and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. This skill is not only a testament to his preparation in the film room but also his mental quickness on the field. The ball-hawking safety caused 5 turnovers (4 INT’s and a FF) last season. He also displays soft hands on tipped passes, and maintains focus to reel the ball in.

Bay plays up to his competition, and some of his best games are against state powers. The class of 2017 prospect does a good job of shedding on-coming blockers and plays his role within the framework of the defense. He does a good job of reading the QB’s eyes, and wide receivers going down middle need to watch out – Bay is a jarring tackler!
