ELCA senior Joshua Banks has been impactful during the 2023 season. He has a total of 101 tackles, 14 pass breakups and 2 interceptions.
One which he returned for a score, and gave the senior a spot in the top plays of the week. Banks’ big play is just a snapshot of the season he has produced, but in large part, has met expectations.
“My senior year is going well and as expected. Last year I was attached more to the box and limited with making plays in space to get on film,” Banks said.
The switch to playing deeper back in coverage has allowed the 5’11” 180 lbs. safety to utilize his quickness, and as he said, play more in space. Banks attributes his seamless adjustment to the hard work he endured during the last year.
“This year, I’ve had great improvement with coverages and being able to make plays as a safety. With the addition of playing in space it has allowed me to be a dual threat on the field,” he said.
On the recruiting front, Banks has seen solid interest throughout the process.
“As far as my recruitment goes, I have 5 offers and am still building. I’ve taken visits so far to Stetson University and Dartmouth University and am looking to take more in the near future.”
A lot of D1 programs have taken an interest in Banks for sure. Stetson is his lone D1 offer, but the Ivy League programs have shown consistent interest and Banks is putting together a strong resume, including a 3.81 GPA, to attract their attention.
ELCA finished the regular season last night beating McNair 42-26 and heads into the 2A playoffs as a #3 seed. A solid run should only bolster the good film from Banks, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear more about the senior and athletes everywhere in the state.
Love the way this kid plays. Once he told me his strategy to success was to Grind, Pray & have Faith, and obviously its working, and I’m all for it. The way he reads an offense, his speed to the ball, and ability to tackle is amazing. Happy for the young man
Joshua is a stellar young man, on and off the field. His future is bright and I am excited to see him play on the collegiate level and beyond. I’m Team JB!!!!
Joshua would be a s asset to a Division 1 program – a player whose intelligence, aggression, and athleticism redefine excellence. His remarkable humility and character make him a standout recruit. It was my pleasure to teach and coach Joshua.
