Ball State First to Offer Patterson

Mountain View’s lockdown cornerback Jayden Patterson was offered by Ball State yesterday. The 2018 recruit who has been in our Top 100 in North Georgia for some time now talked about what the offer meant to him.

“It feels great, it’s like I can see all of the hard work paying off. When you put God first, he will never put you last,” Patterson said.

The aggressive cornerback was first contacted by Chevis Jackson, the defensive backs coach for Ball State, and their relationship has only continued to build since then.

“We communicate almost daily and each time we spoke he just kept talking about how I should come see the school. After making the trip, I’m glad I did.”

Patterson’s trip was very successful this weekend. He got to see Ball State up close and everything they had to offer, to go along with receiving his first college scholarship. When asked about his visit, Patterson replied, “The family culture at Ball State is what I liked the most, and the love from the Ball State coaching staff has just been overwhelmingly amazing.”

Right now Patterson is continuing to hone his craft by training with former Clemson All-American and New York Jet Justin Miller. The 2018 recruit is focused at improving every aspect of his game this offseason.

“I’ve been working with Justin Miller to perfect my craft and increase my knowledge of the game, while also becoming more agile. With his help, I am preparing to be a beast at the next level.”

Patterson has good size at 6′, 185 pounds and has the frame to continue to fill out and approach the 200-pound range. He does a really good job of playing the pass and has great natural timing playing over top. He has decent agility and very good technique with his backpedal. He also sports a 3.4 GPA in the classroom at Mountain View.

Next week, Patterson will be on campus at Mercer on Tuesday and Tennessee State on Wednesday. In the coming weeks, we expect more colleges to jump on board and offer, because he has excellent upside to become a shutdown coverage cornerback at the next level capable of guarding any type of receiver.
