HEATING UP
Nathan Efobi
2022 South Forsyth
Efobi has been slowly accruing offers from FBS programs recently. The 6’4″ 285 lbs. two-way lineman has seen offers from Miami, East Carolina, and Louisville since the start of the year. They join Liberty, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and Georgia who offered back in 2021. Efobi is a high-upside athlete with good power while engaged and a really wide frame to add weight. We suspect his best football is up ahead at the offensive guard position in college. Efobi is an excellent student with a 3.8 GPA. We suspect more FBS schools to start offering very soon here.
SLEEPER OF THE DAY
Juwan Johnson
2022 Calvary Day
Johnson has been on the radar for a few years now, despite his team’s continuous noise making in Class A private. He’s a smart DB, gets very good positioning and is able to read the football from a distance. Johnson uses his high IQ to anticipate the direction of the pass and has the awareness to get his head around and make a play on the football. He is on the lighter side, but still an efficient tackler in 1v1 situations. He’s even taken a nice jump his senior year, and really developing into a good open-field tackler. Johnson has okay straight-line speed. His quickness is solid, but he might be served to play either safety or NB. He’s definitely a solid football player, and you can understand the FCS interest. We are very encouraged by the more explosive plays in his senior film. I definitely like his strong academics, just a really smart student-athlete who makes things happen and doesn’t give up on any play, plus he shows the versatility to play multiple DB spots. Overall, his upside is best at FS at the next level, and though his frame is a little undersized, we really like his football IQ and the improvement he made with his physicality on the field during the 2021 season. Both Mercer and Samford offered late in the season. Johnson was a first team All-State selection and turned out 5 interceptions on the season.
