Air Force Academy Offers Sobczyk

Michael Sobczyk from Mountain View was excited to hear yesterday that the Air Force Academy had offered. The 6’4″ 220-pound tight/wide receiver has played extremely well for the first half of the season, and after watching his latest film, the Falcons coaching staff knew they wanted him at Colorado Springs.

Receiving his first FBS offer could be a recruiting game-changer for the class of ’17 prospect, who currently holds offers from Wesleyan and Middlebury University. Sobczyk spoke about landing that first FBS offer.

“To have an FBS offer is very humbling. Our motto at Mountain View is hard work pays off, and it’s a great feeling to see it pay off.”

The powerful run blocking tight end is a tenacious player out there on the field and really gets after his opponent. It was no surprise to hear that the run-heavy Falcons have been contacting Sobczyk dating back several months ago.

“I first heard from Air Force in the summer. Coach Hendrix was interested in Jonathan Stewart and I,” Sobczyk said.

With an offer in hand, the senior confirmed that he will be visiting Colorado this fall, while also adding an interesting note. “I do plan on visiting in Colorado Springs sometime in November. I’ve been on base previously for a hockey tournament that I was playing in a few years ago and the whole base is very beautiful – I’ll be glad to be back.”

Sobczyk has a lot of potential with his size and versatility out there on the field – plus he is a very good student boasting a 3.87 GPA. Colleges like Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Duke and a few other academically prestigious colleges have reached out and shown interest.

Certainly more schools will be in contact with Sobczyk as we lead up to National Signing Day, so stay tuned to @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter to hear the latest Peach State recruiting news.
