Version 1.0 of the Recruit Georgia TE Position Rankings starts off as a Top Ten. Several of the tight ends listed below are hybrid TE/WR bodies that have become very popular in the spread offenses ruling the football landscape.
Roswell has made it to the GHSA State Championship Game in Georgia’s largest classification the past two seasons. One of the key members of those squads has been Tyneil Hopper. This past season he caught 20 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns. Hopper currently has more than four FBS offers and starts the year off #1 at the TE position.
Coming in at #2 is hybrid WR/TE Zach Williams of Johns Creek. As a junior he snagged 43 passes for 979 yards and nine touchdowns. For his effort he was honored as AAAAAA First Team All-State by both the AJC and Recruit Georgia.
Katerian Legrone of BEST Academy is another vertical threat in the passing game. In just 11 games he caught 33 passes for 671 yards and seven scores. He makes his entry at #3.
When you think about physical mismatches in the passing game Mays’ tight end Maleak Bryant comes to mind. At 6-foot-7, 220-pounds he may remind some fans of former Georgia standout Leonard Pope. As a junior he hauled in 24 passes for 384 yards and two scores.
One of the more prolific pass catchers in Georgia this past season was Ben Bresnahan of West Forsyth. Bresnahan tops this list of tight ends in receptions. This past fall he corralled 57 passes for 764 yards and seven scores.
