2018 DT Rankings Version 1.0

Version 1.0 of the Recruit Georgia DT Position Rankings starts off as a Top Ten. This group consists of the big-uglies in the trenches that win football games.

Starting the year off #1 is massive interior defensive lineman Robert Cooper. At 6-foot-3, 340-pounds he makes for an immovable object for opponents. The Florida State commit was named AAAAAAA First Team All-State by both the AJC and RecruitGeorgia.com.

Making his entry at #2 is Nazir Sy of Norcross. Through ten games as a junior he recorded 50 tackles, 16 TFL’s and eight sacks. Look for his stock to take rise soon.

For the first time in school history Ola High School made the GHSA playoffs. One of the main reasons for the Mustangs success was two-way standout Austin Smith. Defensively he recorded 33 tackles, five TFL’s and two sacks in nine games. Smith already boasts several FBS offers.

Liberty County had its most successful football season in history finishing the year (11-2). One of the leaders of the defense was Tramel Walthour. During his junior campaign he recorded 65 tackles, 14 TFL’s and three sacks for the Panthers. This is one good looking prospect on the hoof.

Rounding out the Top 5 is Darnell Jefferies of Newton High School. As a junior he recorded 76 tackles, five TFL’s and two sacks while playing both defensive end and defensive tackle. Jefferies already has multiple DI offers.

Future RecruitGeorgia.com Position Rankings still to come are APB, ATH, WR, OT, OG/OC, DE, ILB, CB and S.
