Week 9 Standouts

Here are the Week 9 standouts from our weekend research. We have a quick write-up on each of the 10 athletes we selected with individual game film included, if possible.

We also have a poll for our Player of the Week directly underneath that will end Tuesday at 10 p.m. You can only vote once per hour! The winner will get a featured story on the website and a custom highlight video.

Nate Davis
2026 Rockmart
Athlete

Rockmart had a comeback victory against North Cobb Christian. Trailing 21-3 at halftime, the Yellow Jackets rallied back and won 24-21 with junior Nate Davis leading the way. The Rockmart star player had 154 yards rushing and three touchdowns and on defense totaled nine tackles, forcing a fumble, and catching an interception. The forced fumble led to Davis’ go-ahead 22-yard touchdown during the 4th quarter, giving Rockmart the 24-21 lead, one they never relinquished. The junior does it all and you’ll pressed to find a player in the state who impacted a competitive game more than Davis.

Alvin Ricks
2025 Wheeler Co.
Running Back

Wheeler County is 6-1 on the year and just beat Montgomery County in a 66-48 boat race last Thursday. Junior running Alvin Ricks was unstoppable rushing 379 yards on 34 carries and 6 touchdowns while having an impact on defense with several big tackles. The 5’9″ 200 lbs. junior running back has rushed for 1,422 this season with 3 regular season games left and of course the playoffs. Ricks’ impressive production puts the junior as a frontrunner to be Class A Div II All-State.

Harrison Faulkner
2026 North Oconee
Quarterback

North Oconee remains undefeated after their huge 40-35 win over Eastside. Junior QB was 16-of-26 passing for 326 yards and five touchdowns, the most notable coming with 19 seconds remaining where he hit Khamari Brooks with the go-ahead score. The top 10 matchup solidifies North Oconee as one of the top teams in 4A, and they enter the GHSA Top 25 ranked #24. Faulkner has stepped into the primary QB role at North Oconee and is directing the offense efficiently; you can see why college programs across the country are interested in the dual-threat passer. Georgia State was the latest program to offer in September.

Jamir Boyd
2026 Ware Co.
Running Back

Ware County proved the composite rankings across the state wrong with a massive 38-14 win over Benedictine. While most media pundits had Ware County unranked, they remained unphased, and one X-factor is junior running Jamir Boyd. He had 25 carries for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns. The junior back is the little brother of RJ Boyd, a senior currently committed to NC State. Jamir was in his bag, pounding the football and getting behind his pads finishing each run with authority. That kind of physicality will wear a defense down.

Hayden Tumminia
2025 Milton
Linebacker

Milton held Gainesville to just 54 yards rushing in their 42-24 win last Friday. The top 10 mega-hyped matchup had plenty of stars, but senior linebacker Tumminia continued his great season with 11 total tackles, 1.5 for losses, and forced a fumble. The senior continues to play at a high level against top-level competition, and his production is undeniable at this point. No Hudl film, yet, but it will be worth watching.

Christian Langford
2025 Hughes
Quarterback

Christian Langford was highly efficient completing 15-of-17 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns in their dominating 48-7 win over Newnan. Hughes’ win over the #2 team in the region with a 5-2 record shows the maturation and growth Langford has seen. As Langford becomes more comfortable with his surroundings, Hughes will become a more dangerous team, potentially shocking 5A by winning a title. It could happen.

Junior Burrus
2027 Brooks Co.
Quarterback

Brooks County continues to show why they are the cream of the crop of Class A Div II with a 42-12 beating of Clinch. Sophomore passer Junior Burrus was on point passing for 280 yards, going for 14 of 19, and six touchdowns. Burrus caught the Clinch County defense asleep by throwing for so much, which is atypical for Brooks County, but the family name rings a bell. Ni’Tavion Burrus was class of 2021 and one of the best QB in school history, so if he can live up to his accolades, then he will be a special playmaker for the Trojans. No film on Burrus.

Michael Gibbons
2025 Cedartown
Linebacker

Cedartown dominates Dalton 44-13 and moves up to the #5 spot in our 4A rankings. Senior two-way athlete Michael Gibbons had 14 tackles and 2 sacks on defense and 6 carries for 59 yards on offense. Gibbons might lack height, but he is a physical force on the field and one of 4A biggest hitters. His versatility and dominance in the middle of the field have played a huge role for Cedartown in their 8-0 undefeated season.

Elijah Kashama
2025 Shiloh
Safety

Kashama stepped up as a senior leader with an 8 tackle and two interception game to help beat Chamblee 13-10 last Thursday. Kashama’s first interception was unreal, catching the ball on the sideline over his shoulder and amazingly tapping his toe in bounds. The next interception sealed the game, giving Shiloh their first win of the season. Shiloh has played a tough schedule with three 6A teams to start the season but still has a chance at the #4 seed in the region. Kashama is a big-hitting safety prospect with a great frame to play FBS football.

Tyren Buggs
2025 Callaway
Running Back

Buggs returns from an ACL tear and has been a major boost to Callaway during the 2nd half of the regular season. He rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries in a 41-0 blowout against Rutland. Buggs looks better running the football each week we see film, and at 6’1″ and 200 lbs., he will be a load for most defenders in 2A to take down. Callaway is the #5 team in our 2A rankings and should make some noise come playoff time, especially with a senior difference-maker like Buggs toting the rock.
