Tim Allen: “New School, Same Goals”

Tim Allen is a southwest Georgia recruit who has certainly seen the ups and downs during his high school career. The last few years he’s been at Albany High School, but after last semester, the school closed down, which led the soon-to-be senior looking for a new high school this summer.

Allen talked about his offseason, and where he finally ended up.

“My offseason started off hectic, but came together and was fantastic! To begin with, they closed down my former high school (Albany), where I started for 3 years! So I transferred to Westover High School and didn’t loose a step.”

Sure to his word, Allen has jumped right into a leadership role and into their playbook, as well. “I came over and learned the defense and gained respect from coaches and players. Now I’m a team captain.”

That says a lot about how Allen attacked summer workouts. Due to his hard work and leadership skills, he earned the respect of his peers fast.

One of our biggest critiques heading into the offseason was that Allen needed to fillout his 6’2 frame and he has done just that. The senior linebacker has added another 20 pounds this offseason to go along with some major gains in the weight room.

“I increased my bench max from 235 lbs to 305 lbs, and my squat from 345 lbs to 430 lbs,” Allen said.

The 2018 linebacker went to camps at Florida State and West Georgia during the summer. Heading into his final year of high school football he has specific goals he would like to achieve.

“My goals for this season is to win.” Allen continued, “I’m 0-30 in my high school career, and just have not won a single game. That’s one reason why I play so hard, I’m extremely hungry to be successful.”

Allen has certainly earned his share of accolades despite his former high school’s shortcomings. As a freshman he made All-Region honorable mention. Sophomore year he was 2nd team All-Region. Then last season he was voted 1st team All-Region and 2nd team All-Area.

Over the years, he has moved around at linebacker and defensive end. He is very aggressive right at the snap, and uses his long arms to get off blocks. The speedy athlete worked hard at his flexibility this offseason, even doing yoga workouts, and we think he’ll be much improved for his senior year.

Allen plans to visit Furman, New Mexico Highlands, Central Florida, and Mercer for games this fall. He is a Georgia Merit Scholar, sporting a 3.64 GPA, and recently scored a 1060 on the SAT.
