Stars Align for Pickett & Buffalo

Kameron Pickett, a senior running back from North Gwinnett, committed to the University of Buffalo early this morning. The talented back from Gwinnett county, picked the Bulls over New Mexico.

He took official visits to both schools the last few weekends and it really came down to the wire for his services. Both coaching staffs traveled across the country and visited Pickett at his home recently. On his official visits, he became familiar with campus life at both universities.

He told Recruit Georgia one reason why he choose the Bulls was early playing time. The senior also has professional aspirations and he believes Buffalo gives him the best opportunity to achieve them.

CaNrneIUEAE5VE-“My goals are to make it to at he NFL and Buffalo gives me the best chance to achieve my goals.”

Coach Simon from Buffalo’s staff made an impact on Pickett with his ability to develop running backs.

“(Coach Simon) coached in the NFL for 9 years and has 2 Super Bowl rings. In the past 5 years Buffalo has had two RB’s go to the NFL.”

But it wasn’t just coach Simon that persuaded Pickett to choose the Bulls over the Lobos. “(I have a) great relationship with all the coaches and I mean all of them.”

Another big point of emphasis was the academics at Buffalo. “They have one of the best business and medical schools in the country, which are aligned with my major,” Pickett said emphatically.

When watching Pickett’s film you see a patient back. He squares his pads and gets up field in a hurry. He is a quick accelerator and hits his top speed within the first 10 yards. Pickett is also good at picking up blitzes and has solid hands when coming out of the backfield.

Overall, he is a well-rounded back, with good size and running instincts. He played against some of the top high school competition in the state of Georgia. He is excited about getting on campus and making an impact right away.

Pickett is the first commit for Buffalo from the state of Georgia in this recruiting cycle. He will be joining another Gwinnett county running back, Johnathon Hawkins out of Mill Creek, who signed with the Bulls last year.
