— Darnell Kelly “The Created Player” (@TCreatedplayer) August 27, 2023
The start of the season for sophomore sensation Darnell Kelly couldn’t have gone much better. The Peachtree Ridge product has his team undefeated and has thrown for 607 yards in his first two games, which has already caught the attention of several colleges.
Just over the weekend, Kelly earned offers from Middle Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky, and Florida A&M.
“I was really excited about the offers I received over the weekend. They came one after the other. It felt great that my hard work was being noticed,” Kelly said.
The flurry of offers came shortly after another stellar game against Lanier where his team pulled away 44-36. Kelly threw for 307 yards on 25/34 attempts and 3 touchdowns on top of 5 rushes for 49 yards and 2 more scores.
With his team now 2-0 to the start of the season, Kelly and company have Peachtree Ridge looking like a player in Class 7A Region 7.
“I feel really good about the start of the season. My teammates and I are really clicking. My OC, coaches, and I are doing a great job with film studies and working on a great game plan for each opponent. I have a senior group of receivers that I feel can compete against any defense in the state.”
The spread offense that the Lions deploy certainly highlights Kelly’s dual threat abilities. He is able to make quick decisions and seamlessly react to what the defense throws at him.
From our perspective, we have seen the class of ’26 QB improve since he first started sending film to us 4-5 years ago. Like all high-level quarterbacks that come out of the state of Georgia, Kelly has an insatiable desire to improve and that is why the nickname ‘The Created Player’ is so apropos.
No doubt, Kelly is shooting up college recruiting boards for the class of ’26, so you definitely want to keep an eye on the sophomore as the season continues. Be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Kelly and prospects all across the state of Georgia.
