Recruiting Recap 8/6

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Thanks again for stopping by, and for those who are new here, this a feature that covers all of yesterday’s offer and some of the more recent commitments we find to go along with our sleeper of the day pick too. That was a bad run-on sentence – oh well.

Last night I said that I would try to compile all of the schools currently not practicing, but after looking around, it’s basically an impossible task to do it accurately. Based off last night’s feedback though, I would say roughly 25 schools are out due to covid related issues.

Outside of that, I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. It seems like things are very fluid right now with the season, but we are pressing forward with Preseason All-State teams regardless. I’ll admit, it’s been a lot harder this year with rosters not being updated, new classifications, so if I miss a transfer or just mess something up, just let me know. I’m not perfect nor do I pretend to be.

Right now we have Class A Public, Private and 2-A published. Class 3-A will be tonight, so stay tuned for that to be published.

Commitments

Arendez Fedd
2021 Dutchtown
Kennesaw State

Scoop: Fedd has long since been a favorite of ours. He has been starting since his freshman year at Dutchtown. The powerful senior is a beast in the weight room, has a strong arm, and a tough athlete running the football. He was one of the top option QB’s here in the state and is a perfect fit at Kennesaw State.

Kedrek Smith
2021 Veterans
Air Force

Scoop: Smith is a great athlete out of Veterans. Most notably his 110 SPARQ score going back to spring 2019 ranked him near the tops in the state of Georgia. He has a good IQ, reads the play well and attacks. We expect Smith to continue to fill out his frame and be around 200 lbs. at the college level.

Bobby Ezzard
2021 North Gwinnett
Liberty

Scoop: Ezzard is another recruit we have known about dating back to his freshman year. He has always been a smooth route runner, and started to get more varsity reps as he got later into his football career here. He does a very good job of getting up field after the catch. We think the 2021 recruit is set for a big year at North Gwinnett.

Deterius Glover
2021 Camden Co.
Arkansas State

Scoop: Well, Glover is another recruit we have liked dating back to his freshman year where we saw him at the Elite Georgia Classic. He has a solid frame at 6’2″ 255 lbs and has played varsity all three years of high school.  Glover should continue to add weight, and be over 280 lbs. by the time he is ready to play in college. The 2021 recruit has some versatility at the next level to play DE or DT based of Arkansas State’s defensive scheme.

Sleeper of the Day

Keenon Lampkin
2021 Lincoln Co.

Lampkin is extremely under the radar right now but is one of the more foolproof FBS caliber defenders in the state with less than a couple offers that came at the beginning of the year. Lampkin has legit length and does a very good job of setting the edge. He has good quickness and closes well on the ball carrier showing quick feet allowing him to adjust to the ball carrier quickly. He also got some reps at QB, but his potential really lies at OLB. Lampkin needs more work with his 1 v 1 tackling, and dropping his hips before making his attempt. That sort of consistency is not there yet, but shows flashes. There is a ton of upside here, and honestly Lampkin is one of the better athletes in the state in terms of frame and athleticism that still holds less than five offers. At the moment, Lampkin has offers from Coastal Carolina and West Virginia, but like I said, those came at the beginning of the year. At 6’4″ and 215 lbs. we think the senior is a hidden gem here in the state.
