Sleeper of the Day

Emadd Howard
2025 Walnut Grove
Running Back

Howard had started off his senior year with a bang, rushing for 400 yards in just the first two games of the year. The explosive back has been a starter since his sophomore year at Walnut Grove, and with his experience and dynamic running vision, he should elevate the program to new heights in 2024. Howard is a physical north-south runner at 5’11” and 180 lbs. He does a good job of driving his legs through tacklers and shows good determination. Very light feet in between the tackles, Howard can explode out of a hole and get to the 2nd level fast. I like the variability of his footwork, and how Howard adjusts to the defense quickly. He shows good natural forward lean while running, and attentively keeps the ball high and tight when striding out. His ball security seems to be a major focus, he will wrap the ball up when driving the pile, a good habit to see. As he continues to fill out his frame, Howard can utilize his run style to create an even bigger impact at the college level.

Commitments

Christian Garrett
2025 Prince Avenue
Georgia Tech

The 2023 All-State selection has been among the top defensive tackle prospects since he first started at Prince Avenue as a freshman. Garrett’s commitment is a major swoop for Georgia Tech, who flips the former UGA commit, a rare recruiting occurrence. The 2025 defensive tackle has great fundamentals and is extremely physical at the point of attack.

Three ‘n Out

Joe Mbatchou committed to Florida earlier this month, but that hasn’t stopped the recruiting attention. UGA offered yesterday, along with recent offers from Texas, Auburn, and South Carolina too. The recruiting attention will only continue to heat up for the 6’6″ 285 lbs. defender if he makes plays like he did last week where he bull-rushed the center directly back into the RB to stop the play.

Houston County senior Isaiah ‘Bull’ Mitchell has started the season being named Player of the Game in Week 1 and Offensive Player of the Game in Week 2. Mitchell is a transfer over from Peach County and is quickly taking advantage of being the top target of Antwann Hill Jr. Mitchell had 232 receiving yards against Effingham County where Houston County won 44-41. He is over 300 yards on the season and looking like a front-runner to be All-State in 5A.

Just a quick reminder that the Elite Georgia Classic will be December 26-28 at McEachern HS. Speaking as a Cobb County native, I cannot think of a better place to hold the games and will be covering this event again.
