Sleeper of the Day
Nicholas Simmons
2025 Ware Co.
Linebacker
The Ware County coaching staff raves about Simmons, and with good reason. He is the hardest worker in their weight room, has explosive junior film, and even a great student earning the team’s Academic Award with a 3.9 GPA. Simmons is everything you want in a college student-athlete. As a linebacker, Simmons shows great acceleration to the football and does an excellent job of squaring up his tackles. Simmons shoots the gaps and consistently creates pressure when blitzed, even creating one play where he intercepted the pass in the backfield. Looks to be a leader of the defensive unit, and in several highlights you see him direct a teammate pre-snap to shade over to where the play is headed. He is a high-IQ football player, so Ware County moves him all around the field to take advantage of his versatility and natural feel for the game. He even shows good instincts against the pass, reading the QB’s eyes well on a few passes down the middle and raking the football out at the last moment. Simmons is an FBS talent. The 2025 prospect earned All-Region and a lot of team awards in 2023, but for the 2024 season, he is a strong candidate to be All-State by year’s end. Take a look at his first game film against Appling County, Simmons does such a good job of flowing to the football and I’m continuously impressed by his ability to read the play on offense.

Milton faces off against American Heritage tonight at 7 pm on ESPN. This is a unique tournament where nationally ranked programs travel to Broward County facing off against the county’s best programs. A huge matchup for the Eagles, who are playing one of the toughest schedules perhaps in state history.

Peach County junior DB Bryson Hughley looks like a prospect to know in this upcoming recruiting cycle. At 6’3″, he is growing into his frame and weighs 175 lbs., his activity and instincts indicate that Hughley can be an impact safety at the next level. Just watch some of his early season highlights; he has a great break-up radius.
