Welcome to a very late-edition of the Recruiting Recap! Sorry for the delay, it’s been a hectic week here at Recruit Georgia and I took a day off yesterday, and then had some side work to catch-up with today.
No big intro here today, even though it’s much later in the day the recap will still focus on all the recruiting action from last weekend. Offers and commitments of course, but also our sleeper of the day pick.
Also, if you haven’t seen it, we released our All-State picks on the site over the last week, go ahead and give those a look. We have received good feedback from college coaches, many smaller schools loving the content especially.
Commitments
Weston Franklin
2021 Wayne Co.
Georgia Tech
Scoop: Over the years we have watched a good bit of OL, and Franklin from a technical stand point proved to be one of the most talented that we have encountered. Even as a freshman his footwork was outstanding, and the best in his class. Franklin spent his junior year at IMG Academy before moving back to finish of his HS career at Wayne Co., which is where he started. Franklin is one of the top OL here in the state of Georgia with potential to play OG or C. Great pick-up here for GT, Franklin is an absolute stud OL.

Sleeper of the Day
Tahari Tate
2021 Bainbridge
Tate is extremely aggressive and has a big motor – his reported 30 tackles for loss junior year is evident of that. Tate just continues to pour on the weight and is a reported a few inches taller now too. He’s now up to 220 lbs. The Bainbridge program has good coaches, and Tate plays with a lot of urgency on film. He gets into backfield fast, and is a solid solo tackler too. Plenty of backside tackles out of Tate. He is a tweener in size still, but at 6′ 220 lbs. that should start to catch more D1 programs eyes compared to a year ago when he was 5’11” and 190. I like his physicality to attack screen passes and he has a natural feel of getting around blockers. He has pretty good speed, and acceleration. Tate can definitely make an early impact on special teams. He had several blocked punts in 2019. I would like to see him get lower with his tackle attempts, do less profile tackles and meet the ball carrier check to cheek. Moves well laterally, but almost no film of him in pass coverage. Tate’s increase in size is a revelation to his recruitment, and we think once football starts up this fall you could see his recruitment take a nice jump here. His only current offer is from Western Carolina at the moment.
