Recruiting Recap 3/15

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Sorry for the month-long hiatus, we were working on a few other projects, but are happy to be back and to announce our new partnership with VTO Sports & Training. They will host a combine circuit starting next month, so go ahead and click the banner down below to register for their Atlanta combine.

Thanks again for everyone stopping by, we will be doing these weekly throughout the rest of the offseason to keep track of the latest offers around the state of Georgia to go along with whatever commitments, players heating up and of course our sleeper of the day.

Please reach out to recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com or DM us on Twitter if you have any more questions.

Heating Up

Nick Cull has quickly become the hottest name in the state of Georgia. The super agile athlete caught our eye on an impressive kick return for a touchdown last fall that made our top 10 plays of the week, but the real accolades have started this offseason. Cull had a monster jam late January that showed some elite vertical jumping in a basketball game, and a week later he was starting to land FBS offers. That has all snowballed into last weekend where Alabama, Vandy, Auburn, and Arkansas all offered. Cull is now quickly becoming one of the most coveted cornerback recruits in the southeast. When asked last February about what all the attention meant, Cull responded, “I started hearing from schools the past 2 weeks, and mostly at CB, and it truly feels great! (I) can’t do nothing but thank the man above!” There will be a lot more to follow on Cull in the coming weeks, so stick around.

Sleeper of the Day

Anthony Gaskin

Gaskin had an older brother at Coffee that was a really good football player, so even without seeing much film, we expected him to have a good feel for the game. At 6’2″ and 200 lbs. he definitely has a better frame than his older brother. Definitely like how quick his feet and the amount of tackles he makes inside the box. Good top-end speed too, Gaskin can get to the sideline fast from his linebacker spot. Needs to work on meeting the ball carrier at the waist, and not arm tackling so much. A lot of profile tackles on film here, but definitely good production nonetheless. He does a nice job of reading the play and keeping his pads parallel to the LOS. Gaskin is a solid football player with some very good upside given his frame and length he shows. Would like to see him do a better job of getting off blocks, seems to get stuck at times. Definitely needs to refine his fundamentals, getting lower with his tackling, but his frame and work ethic should attract D1 programs.
