Recruiting Recap 2/17

Picking back up with our Recruiting Recap feature again where we highlight recent recruiting news from around the state.

So far, 1300 players have signed up for a profile and we are currently right around 700 profiles made.

Filling out the prospect form does not mean your profile will be made automatically. There will be a waiting period because it still has to be manually made. I’m hoping by March I will have everyone in the database. Also, if you need to update your profile just message the newest information via Twitter.

THE BUZZ

CYJwsdpUwAAWV95Langston Hughes’ All Region wide receiver Sean Nelson recruitment has really exploded as of late. The 6’1″ receiver has offers from Illinois, Troy, Toledo, Maryland and Western Kentucky in the last week. He has a rangey body that colleges like a lot at WR but his straight line speed is what separates him from his peers and defensive backs. Nelson is a big play threat that stretches the field and makes outstanding adjustments on the ball. HUDL

A player who has really caught our eye is First Team All State offensive lineman Caleb Etheridge. The big junior from Mary Persons squat up to 715 pounds and is just a mauler out on the field. He uses his strength to just mash the defensive line. An ideal heavy candidate for a run heavy offense. Marshall offered yesterday, which is his first to date. RG Profile

CbYO0ROWEAAyMXWHarrison Bailey is widely considered the top eight grade QB in the country and was just offered by Miami. This was offer #1 for Bailey who will most likely take over the starting duties at Hillgrove next fall. From a physical stand point, Bailey is everything a college would want in a QB and he has yet to take a varsity snap. FILM

The offers are just piling in for center Tyler Fannin. Coastal Carolina, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, and UAB are the latest to offer. For months we have been saying Fannin is the top center in Georgia, and recently 247 agreed with us, ranking him #8 in the country (tops in GA). We are expecting more P5 schools to go after Fannin once they see him in person.

Newton junior Jeremiah Holloman was an early Michigan commit last December but backed off recently to reevaluate his recruitment. Since then, the athletic WR has been landing offers from all over the country. Maryland, Southern Miss, Illinos, Western Kentucky, Marshall, Tulane have all offered since his Feb 12 decommitment. They are joining Ole Miss, Nebraska, Miss State and Virginia who are also February offers. HUDL

CbcF9niW8AEYMiVMount Paran must have one heck of a baseball team. Brady Scott, currently a South Carolina baseball commit, is starting to receive some P5 attention to play offensive line. He’s a big angular body at 6’6″ 257 and gets to the 2nd level. No surprise that spread option teams like Georgia Tech are offering with his athleticism in the fold. Wake Forest also offered in the last week and the snowball is just beginning to roll for the Mount Paran athlete. HUDL

Power running back to pay attention to is Jalen Holston. Florida offered over the summer a year ago but more noteworthy are his recent ones. Virginia offered today and NC State last month. Holston’s (5’11” 200) ability to break long runs, while also displaying the ability to grind away at the defense, will attract him to a lot of pro style offenses. HUDL

Octavious Morris from Clinch Co. in Homerville was offered by Georgia Southern today. Morris is a really athletic DE/OLB on the edge and hard to contain him getting to the quarterback. He also has a superb motor, and really gets after the ball carrier, no matter where he is on the field. Troy offered Morris last month and those are his only two we know of. HUDL
