Commitments

JD Bengston
2021 Tift Co.
Columbia

Scoop: Columbia lands another commit in as many days. Bengston is a high IQ linebacker out of Tift County with strong fundamentals, and a strong 6’1″ 225 lbs. frame to plug holes in the trenches. Bengston is a great student as well with over a 4.0 GPA and good marks on his standardized test scores too. Columbia is definitely getting some recruiting momentum here in Georgia now with Aaron Brebnor and JD Bengston – look for them to finish strong the next few months.

Sleeper of the Day

Patch Bennett
2021 Pierce Co.

Bennett seems to take blocking to another level when it comes to playing until the whistle is blown. The 2021 recruit just keeps at it until the defender is on the ground. There is a good bit of film with him blocking 10-20 yards downfield where he shows outstanding leg drive and hustle just doesn’t stop. Bennett had a very good junior year, he was one of the top OL in his classification and his nasty steak is consistent on film. He needs to work on flattening his back though, getting more flexible in the hips and just becoming quicker out his stance in general. Over the last year he’s gained about 20 lbs. and is around 260. Considering his 6’3″ frame, he should continue to fill out very well and be over 280-290 in college. Right now, Bennett’s film is private from this year, so the added weight is a bit of an unknown in how he is playing, but there is a good reason for him to be targeted heavily down the stretch as one of the top centers still available here in Georgia. His most recent offer comes by way of Point University, but we do think both FCS and DII programs will take a growing interest in the tough OL prospect.
