Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Thanks for stopping by, and if you are new here, this is a feature where we cover all of yesterday’s offers, commitments, and of course our sleeper of the day too.
Hope everyone is doing well and excited to attack another week! We are going to have a lot more stories throughout the week, and also more profiles, so please continue to come back! Also, tell a friend about our Recruiting Recaps, we post new recaps almost every weekday at around 10 AM. – David
Commitments
Elliott Howell
2021 Arabia Mt.
Tuskegee
Scoop: Howell was sleeper of the day just last week, but ended up closing up his recruitment with a commit to Tuskegee. The 2021 OL has strong hands at the point of attack, keeps a flat back and shows good upside to play across the LOS depending on how he fills out at the next level.
Kris Phillips
2022 Salem
Michigan State
Scoop: Phillips had a handful of offers already under his belt. The long armed OG prospect is nearly 330 lbs., and definitely one of the top prospects at his position in this class. The 2022 prospect has incredible tools to work with, and has impressed in 1v1’s during offseason camps too. Michigan State might be his final destination, but we suspect more offers come in before it is all said and done.

Sleeper of the Day
Jalen Barton
2021 Effingham Co.
Barton is definitely a high motor athlete. Just watch the first few clips of his film and you’ll see him hustle his tail off in pursuit of the ball carrier. He gets to his spots for sure, but even more impressive the velocity in which he hits, which BTW, is very fast. The Effingham County edge rusher is definitely a little undersized at only 6’3″ and 225 lbs. but he has a natural feel at getting off his blocks. Barton is particularly good at dropping his shoulders and gets very low coming off the edge when speed rushing. He has some quick-twitch to his feet and should be particularly good against a read option. I like the high motor athlete, another year in the weight room, and I’m expecting him to make a nice jump. He has pretty powerful hands at the point of attack but would like to see him play with more leverage, especially against the run. Barton also could use some work on a swim move. He is an ideal fit to play 3-4 OLB, but honestly, he could also play in a 4 man front too. Expect Barton to be around 250 at the college level. The 2021 athlete received a recent offer from Point, but we think he is definitely underrated and deserves more D1 attention.
