Recruiting Recap 10/28

Welcome to another edition of the recruiting recap! Thanks for stopping, and if you are new here, this is a feature where we cover all of the offers, commitments, even decommits to go along with our sleeper of the day.

It’s officially mid-point in the week, and I hope everyone is doing well, being productive, and whatnot. We will be releasing our team rankings this afternoon, and have a few more stories to go from the top play winners too. Should also have a team page up and running too.

Sleeper of the Day

Sharode Roberts
2021 Appling Co.

The power back for Appling County, the thunder to Holmes lightning so to speak has been taking out big yards and punishing defenses over the last few seasons at Appling. He is a tough player who does a nice job of driving his legs through contact while using his blocks. Pad level could get better. At 6′ 210 lbs. he is a load to bring down. Roberts also plays defense, where he has a nice frame to plug up the middle and stop a ball carrier in his tracks. Want to see the senior drive for 5 when making a tackle, and fewer profile tackles. Appling County is a run-first team, their smashmouth approach is well suited for a back like Roberts, and the same could be said at the next level. Improving his lateral quickness and lowering his pad level. He appears to be having a bigger impact on defense his senior year and going up against some very good competition he has been key in his team’s success. Roberts has the frame to be well over 220 lbs., and I think his gritty play style will prove to be instrumental in the playoffs for Appling Co. Not much recruiting news lately for Roberts, but expect that to uptick as college coaches recognize Appling County as one of the best teams in 3-A. Check out his film against a consistent power in Wayne County, which was another win for the Pirates earlier this year.
