Recruiting Recap 10/12

Welcome to another edition of the recruiting recap! I know, I know, I know, this is a late recap, and we didn’t even do one on Friday last week either. It’s been a busy weekend of scouting and trying to hit some deadlines.

So let’s get into it. I’ll admit, this recap won’t be the most accurate compared to others, but should still provide some decent info.

Commitments

Josh Moore
2021 Marist
Southern California

Scoop: USC makes a strong push and flips the Marist standout from Stanford. I’ve seen scouts ponder about Moore’s upside at either safety or if he will continue to grow into a linebacker. At 6’3″ and almost 200 lbs. already, the big All-State defender definitely poses the versatility to play all over on defense, and his background as a DB should prove to be an asset in pass coverage especially. Moore also plays receiver, and has solid ball skills for sure, but it’s his upside on defense that should have USC fans excited.

Sleeper of the Day

Nelson Ramirez
2021 East Coweta

Ramirez tore his ACL his junior year, so that explains the limited film, but when we saw him at the Corky Kell back in 2019 he did catch our eye. Size alone, the 6’6″ 300 lbs. lineman was able to get a good push against Mill Creek, which had a few D1 athletes on their DL. Well, his senior year is here, and the 2021 recruit looks a lot better. He looks a lot more flexible, sliding his feet better in pass protection. His film was a little off a year ago with him long snapping, but getting into his senior film and it looks like he is one of the biggest sleepers in this recruiting class now. Ramirez has legit upside for sure, and D1 schools should be all over him. Expect Ramirez to be a coveted OT recruit down the stretch here.
