Powerful Plank is OL of the Week

Warner Robins beat Northside-WR 22-13 in Week 3, and part in parcel to their success was the powerful blocking from interior lineman, Chase Plank. The 6’1.5″ 285 lbs. center was crushing whoever was lined up in front of him, and had several huge blocks that earned him a spot on the Bully Squad for Week 3.

Plank was then voted the OL of the Week, and rightfully so. Several of his blocks practically incapacitated the Northside-WR defender. The senior talked about his excellent start to his season thus far.

“Senior year’s been exciting and a big year of growth for me. On the field, I’ve stepped into more of a leadership role, really trying to set the tone for the younger guys while working on my skill set as an offensive lineman. Off the field, I’ve focused on keeping my grades solid and making sure I balance everything the right way. It’s been a challenge at times, but a good one, and I feel like it’s helped me grow as both a player and a person,” Plank said.

Warner Robins is now 2-1 on the year, and will need good senior leadership from guys like Plank. His focus on winning and the small details sets the tone.

“My main goal is to help the team finish strong by winning the region and then winning state. Personally, I want to keep improving every week, whether that’s getting faster, improving footwork, or being more vocal as a leader. I want to leave my senior year knowing I gave everything I had for my teammates and set an example for the younger guys coming up,” he said.

Just rolling back through his film against Northside-WR, and these blocks are vicious but highly efficient. Plank takes advantage of the competition, using his wit and physicality, plus every ounce of his frame, to win the battle up front.

“My mindset on the field is to stay locked in and consistent every snap. As a center and long snapper, I know the play can’t even start until I do my job right, so I take pride in being dependable for my teammates. I focus on controlling the line, communicating, and giving my quarterback and kicker the best chance to succeed. For me, it’s about doing the little things right every single play,” Plank said.

Over the summer, Plank camped around at Shorter, Reinhardt, and a few other programs while also playing baseball as a designated hitter. Now in his senior year, he holds one offer to date, but feels good about the present opportunities.

“Recruiting’s been going well. I’ve been talking with a few schools and getting good feedback on my film. I have one offer from Point University currently. I’m keeping my options open and just trying to control what I can by working hard, staying consistent, and putting my best on the field every week. I’m excited to see how things come together,” he said.

The senior is impressively organized for his upcoming recruiting visits, and is not sitting back and waiting for opportunities. Rather, he is making them.

“I just got done visiting Shorter for a gameday visit this past weekend. This weekend I’ll be attending Point University for a gameday visit. September 20th, I’ll be at Reinhardt University for a game. I was also just invited to Tuskegee University for a game and just have to confirm a date for that one.”

His recruitment should continue to heat up. We can see more programs from out of state being impressed with his aggressiveness and physicality as a blocker, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Plank and athletes across the state of Georgia.
