Postell Straps Down Receivers

Dutchtown defensive back Rishon Postell has been an emerging prospect the last few seasons at both cornerback and safety. On top of textbook defense, he is also making a big impact on special teams, and during last week’s game, his prowess on that side of the football earned him well-deserved recognition.

Postell blocked the punt against Morrow, scooped up the football, and returned for a score. The final result was 21-14, and his momentum-changing block then return was arguably the decisive play in the game.

The incredible sequence shows the general hustle Postell routinely displays on film and his knack for the big play. He was voted the #3 play in Georgia last week, and overall, his midseason film looks strong.

“My junior year is going well. I feel like we can improve as a team to win more games and dominate opponents,” he said.

Dutchtown is 4-4 on the season, but improved 3-2 in region play after the win over Morrow. They have won two games in a row and will face off against McIntosh on Friday, which could be an offensive showcase.

Postell has been playing well with 30 solo tackles, four pass breakups, one interception, and one forced fumble. He talked about his goals for the rest of the season.

“My goals for the rest of the season are to go far as a team, build a strong bond with my teammates on and off the field, and play mistake-free football. Do that and all the stats and offers will come with it,” he said.

Postell made an impact on the varsity as a sophomore and has taken another jump this season in almost every aspect of the game. He talked about that progress.

“I feel like I have improved on my confidence, technique in coverage, and my emotions when it comes to having a bad play.”

Postell is an aggressive football player who goes full tilt on each play. Whether he is cleaning up a tackle on the flat, or aggressively attacking the pass at the apex, the junior does not relent.

“My mindset on the field is to dominate anyone in front of me for 4 quarters non-stop,” he said.

On the recruiting front, Postell seems like the kind of prospect that should attract an array of programs both locally and afar. As of now, his recruitment has been quiet, but he is keeping the faith.

“Recruiting is going ok. I’m not hearing from a lot of schools but I’m not worried because it’s in God’s hands and God is always on time,” he said.

Postell will certainly be a 2026 prospect that D1 programs will need to keep tabs on. He is an explosive high IQ athlete who seems to be at the right place and his multiple years of varsity experience shows a player who is honestly prime to breakout, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia to hear the latest on the Dutchtown junior and athletes across the state.
