Shiflet has definitely gone under the radar, but his length stands out right away on film. He’s got some long arms, and a good frame at 245 lbs. already. Shiflet needs to work on his core strength and just having better body control on the field. He just doesn’t have a lot of strength, which makes his weight even more interesting considering the lack of strength he shows when making a tackle. Shiflet has good speed though when he strides out, but does need some work with agility, changing directions he is just way too slow. He does a solid job of getting off blocks with his length. Doesn’t drive his legs though, not while engaged or making a tackle. Shiflet is an interesting prospect though. He hustles pretty well on the field but definitely comes as a raw football player. Looks like he is going to get more reps at b-back this fall, so that should be interesting considering his size, already has one play where runs straight through a tackler, which suggest maybe better control of his body. Shiflet is another senior that we are going to watch closely this fall, the athletic profile is there – even if he is raw as anything.
