Burchfield is a very smart player who does a great job of reading the play and displays solid tackling fundamentals – like how he sinks his hips and explodes through is tackle wrapping up. Both junior and senior year he led his team in tackles. He reads the blocking scheme quickly and slides around the intended blocker to make a stop. He split off from South Forsyth his junior year and enrolled at the new Denmark HS and has not missed a beat showing that relentless attitude out there on the field. The 2020 recruit, just plays with such urgency, and reads the play so quickly that he gets himself in outstanding position to make the tackle. Looked good in the Elite Classic game, we saw the 2020 recruit make several negative plays including a tackle for loss and a sack too. Already a team captain, expect high academic schools to have their interest peak this offseason. Already weighs 225 lbs., and no reason to not see him close to 240 by the time he fully developed in college. Burchfield has always been a recruit that we have like dating back to his strong performance at the Corky Kell Classic as a sophomore against Roswell. His high football IQ and nice frame suggest that he can be a very good college MIKE, and great grades to boot.

2018 STATS: 91 tackles, 14 TFL’s, 1.5 sacks. 2 FF & 3 FR

This 2020 prospect has a visual relentlessness that defines his pursuit towards the ball. Sheds his blocks clean with balance and coordination that defines his line of attack in pursuit of the ball. He belongs in LB corp of juniors and seniors as a sophomore and complements the defensive line in the base 4-3 set. He bends well at the hips and lateral movement complements the i-spy pursuit well when opponents employs the spread option offense. Picked up height and muscle in the off season. His stature and center of gravity carries well at this point in his game. Look for this 2020 prospect to gain core strength over the next 3 seasons.
