Rice does a good job of sticking on the hip of the receiver and has a very light quick backpedal. He is quick rotating his hips over and does a very good job of reading the pass midflight. I’m really impressed with his reaction to the route of the receiver and how well he uses his hands to rake out the pass. Rice is also very good at reading the play and taking very smart pursuit angles while avoid blockers. He’s a relentless defender and does a good bit of jostling with the receiver that doesn’t warrant a flag. Rice was extremely consistent with his coverage his junior year and what I like the most about him is the toughness he shows on each play. His tackling is fundamentally sound and he does a an excellent job of meeting the ball carrier low and typically wrapping up at the thighs.
