Steed was one of the top performers at The Opening as a sophomore. His junior year you got to see his general explosiveness make an impact. His vertical is around 40″ and it’s hard to find many in the state who are better jumpers than Steed. He has been trained well as an option back. He does a pretty good on belly plays getting up field and shows a very good initial burst. I would like to see him get more of a forward lean with his running. There is a few minor tweaks that could really take his speed to another level. Steed has very good strength squatting 450 lbs almost a year ago now. He has good balance breaking tackles and does a solid job of keeping his feet through contact, which helps him on the longer runs where defenders are making dives at his feet. Steed has some long runs his junior year. hi ability to make nice quick cuts allow for him to break off huge runs. On defense he plays rover, and that’s where his strength really shows out honestly. Steed just flat out hammers a ball carrier and he does a very good job of tackling thru, then driving his legs. He is probably around 5’10”-5’11” so could definitely play in a nickle defense close the LOS. There is definitely some versatility to Steed, and should be set for a big senior year getting the bulk of the carries at Manchester. Based off a team’s scheme, he could really play on either side, but seems like defense is best suited for Steed.
