Tyree Nelson – RB
Mays

#28 RUNNING BACK

HT: 5’7″
WT: 185
Class: 2020

Nelson was extremely productive getting carries out of the shotgun last year. Playing with an excellent dual threat QB, the 2020 running back is a smart player, he gets up field and really sells his carry. He explodes through when a hole opens and keeps his pads pretty low, but can get a little better. He keeps his feet constantly moving, and will fight through contact and get tough yards in between the tackles. He has good running instincts, times his cuts pretty well and it’s evident that his ability to change direction is a true skill. The Mays running back will be losing a few big blockers on the squad, especially out on the perimeter at receiver/tight end, so we are curious to see if his production continues. No doubt he is a team player, and going up against all kinds of tough competition as a sophomore year (played as a freshman on varsity too) he produced, so there should be good expectations heading into this season. I would like to see him continue to develop as a pass receiver, maybe line up in the slot some, but more than anything a more explosive first step will help his recruiting stock a good bit.
