The jumbo-athlete showed off his conditioning this year playing both DE and OT. I’m not completely sold on where he fits best, his frame does look legit, and he shows pretty good reactions at the snap – excellent shuttle time supports that too. Townsend keeps his motor up, and looking at both his offensive and defensive film. At times, he shows the tenacity that fits better on the defensive side of the football. Sets the edge pretty well, gets pretty good leverage and is quick enough to get around blocks. When he is blocking right now, he seems to get out of control to easily, but just looking at his frame and the quickness he shows getting to his blocks and I’m sure colleges will be all over Townsend. Bigger questions is how will Townsend fill out his frame, I don’t think he will ever gain enough to be on the OL.
