What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
Very good vision and hard to touch in open field and love to push my teammates to their very best.
Mathis is a special athlete with an elite first step but he is more than just that. Mathis has excellent running vision, who changes direction on a dime without losing any speed. He sets up his blocks really well, and generally does a great job squaring his pads up field and getting the most yards possible. He shows solid patience in the backfield, and he does elite job of reading the defender and cutting back against the grain. We are expecting to see a jump in his top end speed, especially after a very successful spring in track. Mathis is a no doubt P5 running back who can do a little bit of everything, including be a major threat coming out of the backfield.
