Mayes became the top target for the Bears prolific passing attack. He shows a legit talent for is gauging the pass and using his body to shield the defender from the ball. The senior has really evolved into a ball player this season, and stepped up his game. He’s very versatile where he lines up on the field. He’s dangerous on screen passes, and can make a few moves and then get out in open field where his outstanding running vision can be showcased. Mayes has excellent feel for the game. He reads the defender, and consistently makes the right cut for extra yardage. He has a slight frame, so adding weight could be a concern but with the right training he should top over 180 pounds. That should help him break more tackles too. Mayes is a talented player, and at the next level he figures to be a slot receiver that you can use for running short routes, bubble screen, jet sweeps but also he can go down the middle for 20-40 yard gains on seam passes then make something happen with his feet after. He also has the ability to be a really good return man and shows the top end speed to break off long plays.
